Ten more UCCE positions released for recruitment
Following up on my July 20 announcement, I am pleased to announce 10 more UC Cooperative Extension positions are now released for recruitment. These positions are made possible by the historic 2021-22 state budget increase Governor Newsom approved in July. We are grateful to begin rebuilding the UC ANR academic footprint to address critical needs in our state. The newly released positions include:
- #09 Orchard Systems Area Advisor, Tehama County (headquarter county)
- #65 Nut Crops Advisor, Merced County (headquarter county)
- #32 Invasive Weed & Restoration Ecology Specialist, UC Davis
- #40 Water Justice Policy and Planning Specialist, UC Berkeley
- Nutrition, Family, and Consumer Science Advisor, Central Sierra Multicounty Partnership
- Nutrition, Family, and Consumer Sciences Advisor, Tulare County (headquarter county, supporting the lower San Joaquin Valley region)
- Fire Advisor, Mariposa County
- Environmental Horticulture Advisor, Capitol Corridor Multicounty Partnership, serving the Sacramento Valley region
- Agricultural Engineer Advisor, Intermountain Research and Extension Center (headquarter location)
- Integrated Pest Management Area Advisor, Butte County (headquarter county)
The UCCE Advisor positions are multicounty positions. For positions with numbers less than 68, the full descriptions are available on the2018 Call for Positions webpage(note: some modifications may be made to meet present needs). The positions with no numbers were identified as current, high-priority needs through discussions with UC ANR leadership groups, including County Directors, Statewide Program/Institute Directors, and REC Directors. Program Teams also provided input on priorities.
In May 2021, Program Council identified 15 UCCE Advisor and five UCCE Specialist positions as critically urgent to fill from a list of the remaining positions from the 2018 position call process (updated in 2019) and more recent departures/priorities. To avoid overwhelming our Human Resources colleagues, the first 10 positions were released in July and this second set of 10 is being released now. We look forward to releasing additional positions for recruitment – both academic and program support members – throughout the next several months.
Glenda Humiston
Vice President
