Under the direction of the Nutrition Education Program Supervisor, the CalFresh Healthy Living Nutrition Education Program Community Education Specialist 3 is responsible for the coordination of the CalFresh Healthy Living Nutrition Education Program focusing on delivery of nutrition education, partnerships and Policy, Systems and Environmental (PSE) changes with low-income communities and underserved populations. This includes supervising, training, and guiding nutrition education extenders, developing and implementing yearly work plans, evaluating work plan goals and objectives, and writing reports. This person will coordinate efforts and serve as a liaison with other agencies providing related services in Shasta, Tehama and Trinity counties, build and maintain formal and informal coalitions of partners, tailor special nutrition education and PSE projects, and maintain subject matter competence. This person will coordinate with nutrition education staff within the Shasta Cluster (Shasta/Tehama/Trinity) to strengthen successful regional nutrition education approaches and interventions and develop new strategies to meet regional program goals. The overall goal of the above program is to promote healthy lifestyles for low-income students, parents, adults and families. This is accomplished by direct teaching and extender training on practical nutrition, food resource management, food safety, and the importance of physical activity.
This position is a career appointment that is 100% fixed.
Pay Scale: $45,700.00/year to $61,500.00/year
This position will promote, in all ways consistent with the other responsibilities of the position, accomplishment of the Affirmative Action goals established by the Division.
