Learn, network and socialize in commercial orchards.
Join the industry and our UCANR and CSU research partners for a field tour on Wednesday and Thursday, May 29th and 30th (including 5 stops, with happy hour and a dinner) and a half day on the 30th (including 2 stops and a lunch)! With itinerary stops planned around questions of spacing (including high density), irrigation, potassium management, pruning perspectives and disease (Phellinus and Prune brownline) there will be many opportunities for discussion and engagement on some of our most important in-field issues. The itinerary is as follows:
Wednesday, May 29th:
- Start at 9:00 AM in the orchard of Gurbinder Atwal near Yuba City to discuss Phellinus and the work of Lauren Hoffman on this pathogen.
- Move on from there to the orchards of Bob Amarel and John Taylor to discuss grower perspectives on multiple aspects of orchard management. Lunch will be boxed sandwiches.
- From there we’ll continue north to the orchards of Brendon Flynn/Pacific Farms and Tim Carrol to continue the conversation about orchard management and to see and discuss Prune brownline.
- Happy hour at the Hampton Inn and Suites in Red Bluff.
- Dinner at Casa Ramos in Red Bluff.
Thursday, May 30th:
- Start at 9:00 AM at M&T Ranch with one additional stop around orchard management considerations.
- Lunch in Chico to end the tour.
Your participation is important, and the industry’s investment is designed to represent growers and handlers of all types for the long-term success of California Prunes. We can't wait to see you there!
